Demo mode
What demo mode adds for a public demo, how to turn it on, and what to remove before your own launch.
What it does
Demo mode is for a public demo, where visitors should get in with one click. It is off by default. When NEXT_PUBLIC_DEMO_MODE is true:
- the sign-in page shows a Demo access card with the sign-in details and a button that fills them in,
- the email and password fields start filled in, with a line under the form that says so,
- a floating colour switcher appears in the corner, and the colour picked there is remembered in the browser.
Nothing else changes. With demo mode off, the sign-in form starts empty and the switcher is hidden, but the placeholder account still signs in.
Turn it on
Without Docker, set it in .env.local, then restart yarn dev or run yarn build again:
