Requirements
What to install before you run the site, with Docker or without it.
Pick one way to run it: Docker, or Node.js with Yarn. You do not need both.
With Docker
- Docker Desktop on macOS or Windows, or Docker Engine on Linux. The site has its own
Dockerfile; Compose is not needed. - An internet connection for the first build, which downloads the Node.js image and the dependencies.
- Nothing else: Docker brings Node.js.
Without Docker
- Node.js 22 or newer. The Docker image uses Node.js 24.
- Yarn 4, through Corepack. Run
corepack enableonce;package.jsonpins the exact Yarn version, soyarnpicks the right one. If your Node.js has no Corepack, install it first withnpm install -g corepack. - No global packages, no database and no environment variables.
Port
The site listens on port 3030, with Docker and without it. If something else uses it, run on another port.
Browser
A current browser with WebGL, which draws the 3D cans: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Every file the page loads ships with the site, the 3D models and the lighting map included, so it needs no outside service.
